A mobile billboard blasting Mayor Carlos Gimenez as “Clueless Carlos” is on the traffic-clogged streets of Miami-Dade.
It hit the streets Tuesday with a route that included the Stephen P. Clark Government Center, Commissioner Sally Heyman’s District Office in North Miami Beach and Commissioner Barbara Jordan’s District Office in Miami Gardens.
The billboard truck is part of multi-faceted campaign by Transport Workers Union Local 291 and the International Transport Workers Union. TWU is demanding a fair contract and respect from Gimenez, who has denigrated transit workers as lazy and has tried to blame us for the unreliable and inadequate service. The union also is demanding Gimenez and other elected officials properly fund Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover.
The mayor has slashed bus and rail service, service and has given some public bus routes to an unaccountable private contractor.
