Bio - Clarence Washington
Clarence Washington is currently President of the Transport Workers Union of America, Local 291, AFL-CIO, in Miami, Florida. He also serves as an International Executive Board Member of the Transport Workers Union of America, which is headquartered in Washington, DC.

Shortly after joining Miami-Dade Transit, Clarence became interested in Union politics, and was elected to various TWU Local 291 offices over the years, including Executive Vice President, before ultimately assuming the reins of Local 291 as its President in 2012.

Mr. Washington's educational and training background includes leadership courses taken at the George Meany Center for Labor Studies in Baltimore, MD, and courses in case preparation and presentation, and Mass Transit Union Representative Training Projects.

Local 291 is one of TWU's largest Locals, with almost three-thousand (3,000) members, who run the Miami-Dade Transit system, which includes Metrobus, Metrorail, and Metromover. Miami-Dade Transit is the largest transit system in Florida, and the 15 th largest in the United States.
